Summer at West London Day Centre...

During July 2015, we helped thirty people who were homeless to move off the streets and into accommodation. One older man had found himself homeless when he returned to the UK after living and working in the Far East. We helped sort out his pension and found him a place to live in Cumbria. We were particularly pleased to help a mother and her 16 year old daughter, who had been spending the nights in a hospital A&E department, move into a p...lace in Ilford. We also helped seven people start work including one of our clients, of Indian ethnic origin, who found a live-in position in an Indian restaurant in Scotland. One man had become quite disruptive in the day centre and smashed the glass in our front door. The following day he was picked up and detained under the Mental Health Act in a psychiatric hospital – which was unfortunate but better than staying on the street.

As ever, we had a real mixture of people from all walks of life with different and often complicated circumstances. We remain extremely grateful to all our supporters who enable us to continue with this work through their fundraising efforts and donations. Thank You!
