Running for WLM

At the West London Day Centre, there are always events being organised to help raise the necessary fund our valuable work helping homeless people off the streets and into accommodation and employment. On 12th July 2015 it was the British 10k Run through the centre of London, taking in some of the capital’s finest landmarks. The Centre had a total of sixteen runners, with an additional two runners raising money for the Highbury Counselling Centre, another organisation that is part of the West London Mission. So far the runners have raised an incredible £3,914.15.
The money raised has contributed to some fantastic success stories in July at the Day Centre. For instance the Day Centre has been particularly concerned for a mother and her sixteen year old daughter who have been spending their nights in the A&E department of a local hospital. The daughter is currently taking her GCSE’s but they will hopefully move into a flat this week. Also one of our homeless clients has just found work in a car wash and should be able to save enough money now to move into a room in two weeks time.
Therefore, we want to say a huge thank you to all our runners and the incredible amount of money that they managed to raise, without which the Day Centre would not be able to continue and we would not be able to achieve such fantastic success stories such as these.
